Leslie plays rather loudly :-)

From our bros in the band: Leslie....

We got the festival shut down...
yes, its true. After the killer show at the Windjammer here at home with Crowfield and Joal Rush we slid down the road a few miles to Awendaw, SC for Awendaw Green's 1st annual ROCKTOBERFEST. we pulled in on Saturday night/Sunday morning around 3 AM and found ourselves a fire and a few cold ones that someone so generously left behind. We thought that everyone was asleep when two guys emerged from the woods with some crackers and good laughs. We hung with the guys for a while swapping stories and almost peeing on ourselves laughing at one of the dudes. we then decided to turn in and scouted out a nice little spot to catch a couple hours of sleep.

The music started a lot sooner than our heads may have wanted it to but it was worth it once we drug ourselves out to the stages to see what was going on...it started with a really young band of prodigies called Slanguage. They werent more than 15 or 16 and they blew our minds. Soon after they finished Eddie, one of the promoters and our good bud, approached us and asked us to play a short set with our new favorite blues guy, Jeff Norwood, so they could fill some time for band that was running late. We of course said "yes" and hit the stage with him about 20 mins later and sunk into some killer blues jams.

As the day went on we saw a lot of great bands (The Explorers Club, Milhouse, Sol Driven Train, Owen Beverly, Jay Clifford, A Fragile Tomorrow, Coaltrain, Danger Muffin, Rick Cribb, ETC... and Sadler got up and played with Firework Show. They may be my favorite Charleston band. I wish i could talk about all the bands, everyone was really really good and the event was really well put together....BUT then we had to go an ruin it.

We got on stage at about 10:20 PM and there are still 2 acts to follow us. As we got about 3/4 of the way through our set it is announced to the crowd that the police we going to shut the whole thing down in 15 mins due to a noise ordinance that we were violating...oops. We quickly rounded the headliner, Zack Deputy, up and he grabbed Sadler's guitar. He had come a good ways to play this thing and a lot of people had waited all day to see him. He had to play something! He looks at Jason and me and says "lets play in E and make it funky". So we did. And it was awesome! We filled up the last 15 mins of the festival in a Funk>Blues>Rasta Jam. He was such a good sport about the whole thing.

We owe an apology to Zack and also to Soda Pop Curtis who also did not get to play their set...please dont hate us. We had such a good time, met so many good people and got to network with some other bands in our area that we may have never gotten the chance to do so with otherwise. Next year it will be huge, i hope we get to come back...

We have some more dates starting this weekend with BANG CAMERO so if you live in Nashville or Atlanta we expect you to be there. No exceptions. None.

Seriously.

Fun at Rocktoberfest

Thanks so much for all your effort in making Rocktoberfest truly rock. It's a rare thing for so many musicians from different cliques within the Charleston music scene to come together in a spirit of fun and mutual respect. It was truly a fantastic event for local musicians, and I look forward to hearing about whatever else you have cooked up at Awendaw Green.

Thanks,
Joel

Wednesday Barn Jam with Flood Empty Lakes!

That was so much fun!
